Measuring Guide Blinds

How to measure your blinds

Measuring blinds is easy, all you need to do is follow the simple step-by-step guide below and off you go! You will not need to do any calculations yourself, we will do it all for you.

Standard Windows

Firstly, check to see if your window has a recess and choose if you would like your blind to fit inside or outside of the windows recess. However, please ensure that the recess has no obstructions to prevent the blind from closing. Also check that your recess has a depth big enough to fit the blind. The table below gives the depths of all our blinds:

Inner Recess (blind inside the windows recess)

Step 1: Measure the full width and drop of the window in 3 different points,  measuring either end and in the middle as they may not be consistent along the whole recess. Use the smallest measurement as your width guide.

Step 2: Do not make any reductions on the measurements as we automatically do this for you.

NOTE: Roller Blinds are measured slightly different because the fabric is narrower than on full bracket. Measure at the top of the recess to get the best fit.

If you have tiles within your recess (in kitchens and bathrooms) this will make the recess narrower. Measure between the tiles so the blind will fit perfectly.

Top Tip: Use a metal tape measure to give you the most accurate measurements.

Outer Recess (blind outside the windows recess)

Step 1: Measure the area of where you would like your blind. We recommend the blind overlaps the recess by a minimum of 75mm above the window and 50mm each side of the window. This is to reduce the amount of light coming into the room.

Step 2: The length of the blind is a personal preference but please consider anything that could prevent the blind from closing properly, for example radiators.

Step 3: Do not make any reductions on the measurements as we automatically do this for you.

NOTE: Roller Blinds are approximately 35mm wider than the fabric width, so you can choose whether to measure and include the bracket or just measure for the fabric.

Top Tip: Use a metal tape measure to give you the most accurate measurements.
